Panescope tests websites in your own browser. The pages you test stay on your computer. This page lists everything the extension and its server handle, and why.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The pages you test

Panescope opens the pages you choose inside its workspace, in your own Chrome. Their content, your screenshots, recordings, reports, audit results, Live CSS & JS, cookies and storage are processed on your computer and are not sent to Panescope or anyone else.

What is stored on your computer

Your workspaces, screens, devices, settings, shortcuts, Live CSS & JS, visual diff baselines, Photo Studio images and license status are stored locally by Chrome (extension storage and IndexedDB). They stay until you delete them or remove the extension. Files you export go to your Downloads folder.

What reaches Panescope's server

Panescope's server (license.panescope.com) only handles licensing, payments and one optional lookup:

  • Buying Pro. Checkout happens on Stripe. Stripe sends us your email address and the subscription status, so we can email your license key and check that it is valid. Your card details are entered on Stripe and never reach us.
  • Activating a license. The license key, a random installation ID created by the extension and your device's platform name (for example "Windows · Chrome"), so a license works on up to 3 devices and you can deactivate one.
  • Free trial. The installation ID and a one-way hash of your IP address, to allow one trial per device.
  • Keeping the installation ID. The extension also keeps its random installation ID in a cookie of license.panescope.com, on a path no request uses, so it is never sent anywhere. Reinstalling the extension then keeps the same ID, so your trial and device slot stay the same. Clearing your browser cookies removes it.
  • Core Web Vitals field data (Pro, without your own API key). The URL or origin of the page you look up is forwarded to Google's Chrome UX Report API and the answer returned to you. It is not stored. With your own API key, the extension asks Google directly.

This website

panescope.com (not the extension) uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help: pages viewed, the page you came from, your browser and device type and your approximate location. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. It sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that last up to 2 years. Advertising features are off.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland nothing is stored until you accept in the cookie banner. Elsewhere it is on by default. Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your choice at any time; declining also removes the cookies.

What we do not do

  • No analytics, tracking or advertising in the extension.
  • No selling or sharing of data with third parties, other than Stripe for payments and Google for the Chrome UX Report lookups above.
  • No reading of pages you do not open in Panescope.

Permissions

Chrome lists the permissions Panescope needs: access to the sites you test (to show and inspect them in the screens), the debugger (for device emulation and high-resolution screenshots, only while you use them; Chrome shows a bar while it is on), cookies (to show and edit the tested site's cookies in the Storage panel, and to keep the installation ID above), downloads (to save your exports) and storage. They are used only for these features.

AI agents (MCP)

If you turn on AI agents, a coding agent running on your own computer can open pages in your workspace, read their console and run audits. Nothing is sent to us. Clicking, typing and running scripts need a separate permission that you turn on.

Keeping or deleting your data

Remove the extension or clear its data to delete everything stored on your computer. To delete your license record (email, key, activations), write to us from the email address you used at checkout; we keep payment records only as long as the law requires.
